WUHAN, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- China Institute of Mountaineering and Outdoor Recreation, founded by China Mountaineering Association (CMA) and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) was established in Wuhan on Friday.
The institute will focus on talent cultivation, scientific research, competition and training, social service and foreign exchanges, aiming to help promote the development of mountaineering sports and ourtdoor recreation in China.
"The newly-built institute will contribute to establish the whole theory system of mountaineering sport and the high-level talent training system in China," Li Zhixin, the chairman of CMA said.
China University of Geosciences has a good tradition of mountaineering sports in its history. The school mountaineering team has even reached the summit of Qomolangma, with the support of CMA.
"Mountain climbing, rock climbing and outdoor recreation are our school's favored sports," said Wang Yanxin, the president of China University of Geosciences.
